JOB DESCRIPTION: Pecan Valley is expanding access to mental health services for individuals with severe mental illness. This expansion will result in a focus on initial psychiatric evaluations by a medical provider. The goal is for all initial evaluation to be completed by providers who will not continue client’s care but referred to other Pecan Valley providers for ongoing follow-up services. This nursing position will provide supports and nursing activities for individuals receiving initial psychiatric evaluations. These evaluations will be done primarily through tele-medicine activities. This position will also work with the clinic nurse when initial evaluations are not scheduled and support routine nursing activities in the clinic. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: focused physical assessments (vital signs, EKG's, labs), timely computer documentation / prescription drug ordering, injectable medication administration, as well as frequent phone, email, face to face and/or telemedicine interaction with physicians, ANPs, patients, caregivers, case managers, clinic manager, front office staff, insurance companies and pharmacies.
QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed to practice as a Vocational nurse (LVN) in the state of Texas. Some mental health experience preferred. Excellent multi-tasking, organizational, computer, communication, team - work and patient advocacy, customer service skills are required. Must be at least 18 years of age, must have a Texas driver's license, a good driving record for the past three years and a valid auto insurance card.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, lift at least 25 pounds, reach overhead, and sit for an extended period.
